Saint-Secondin

Lords de Vitré and de Fief – Bernard controlled the forest and heathlands between the Clouère and the Clain and the manors in the Clouère valley and its tributarys. They had prosperous farms benefiting from the natural meadows.
During the 19th century the Château of the Forest was built. During the 20th century the village of Saint-Secondin was very active. The goods and passenger station which had a postal service which was stopped in the 1920’s by the tramway company of the Vienne , as were the stations of Gençay, Brion and Usson du Poitou.
The second world war made this commune a frontier between the free zone and occupied zones. The commune is, today, very welcoming with its leisure facilities, riding school, swimming pool and residential country cottages.
Today, with the use of new technologies a boiler room using recycled wood chip, a natural water purification system, a photovoltaic system has been created.
