Magné

At the edge of The Belle the small commune of Magné has been inhabited for several thousand years as the dolmen and Neolithic burials discovered at “ La Rocher” show. The church devoted to Saint Médard was burned by soldiers in the 16th century. A century later during its rebuilding the Renaissance burial vault became the current choir and Roman elements were preserved.

The Château de La Roche goes back to the 15th century. This Renaissance building, situated in a park, has today, a private museum “Musée de l’ordre de Malte”. The stained glass of the chapel are worth a visit.

Not far from Magné, the village of Talonnière preserves traditional houses and old limestone quarries exploited formerly for making lime.
Whilst in the commune the village wood walk is worth a visit with its boxwood, close to La Belle with its beautiful blue water. In the “Parc De La Belle” you can spend the night in a cabin in the treetops.
